During the 2008/2009 ski season we have made
arrangements with a local ski guide to bring you up to the minute
reports on the conditions etc at Kimberley Ski Hill. Once the season
begins check out the Latest News link directly from the Kimberley Ski
Hill page.

Hidden off the beaten track in the
south east corner of the Purcell mountain range lies the City of Kimberley and
nestled above it Kimberley Alpine Resort which is the second highest elevation of any
city in Canada.
With the opening of the new Canadian
Rockies International Airport at Cranbrook Kimberley Alpine Resort should become the
easiest Canadian Ski Resort for the international traveller to reach. Delta
Airlines have announced that they will operate a service between Salt Lake City
and Cranbrook from December 17th 2008. However we fail to see that this service
would be of any great benefit to Kimberley Alpine Resort. With high fuel costs
and the current strength of the Canadian dollar such a service is unlikely to
attract many USA residents and the exceptionally long travel times Delta quote
up to 35 hours from departure to arrival at Cranbrook for European travellers
with the shortest being almost 27 hours. Until further services are
offered we would recommend European travellers fly to Vancouver and take a
connecting flight from there. Once you have arrived the ski resort offers superb
winter sports including downhill and cross country skiing, snow shoeing and
snowmobiling plus it has an enviable record for consistent dumps of dry powder
snow. Kimberley is an ideal family ski resort and is renowned for its varied
skiing terrain and consistent dumps of superb champagne powder snow.

In the
2006-2007 ski season Kimberley Alpine Resort received over 26 feet of snow.
In spring, summer and fall golfing, fishing, hiking and mountain biking
are all on offer.
The accommodation on offer is
plentiful and varied from cheaper rooms downtown to luxury fully catered
ski chalets such as Sunshine Chalet
plus condos, private homes, bed & breakfast facilities like
Kimberley Lodge, hotels and motels
