Hidden off the beaten track in the
south east corner of the Purcell mountain range lies the City of Kimberley and
nestled above it Kimberley Alpine Resort which is the second highest elevation of any
city in Canada.
With the opening of the new Canadian
Rockies International Airport at Cranbrook Kimberley Alpine Resort will become the
easiest Canadian Ski Resort for the international traveller to reach. The ski resort offers superb
winter sports including downhill and cross country skiing, snow shoeing and
snowmobiling plus it has an enviable record for consistent dumps of dry powder
snow. Kimberley is an ideal family ski resort and is renowned for its varied
skiing terrain and consistent dumps of superb champagne powder snow.
In the
2006-2007 ski season Kimberley Alpine Resort received over 26 feet of snow.
In spring, summer and fall golfing, fishing, hiking and mountain biking
are all on offer.
